Dr. Eraldine Williams-Shakespeare is an educator and certified instructional designer and evaluator with over 25 years of experience at the tertiary level.
She holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction – Instructional Technology, University of South Florida, and a M.A. in Open Distance and Flexible Learning, University of London. She is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education and Liberal Studies at the University of Technology, Jamaica. An avid researcher, she has published in several local and international peer-reviewed journals and has research interests in distance and online learning, technologies in teacher education, curriculum development and planning, TVET teacher education, student satisfaction, and collaboration in academic unions and AI deployment and integration within the Caribbean.
Currently, her research is focused on AI deployment within the Caribbean. This is in addition to the action research on teacher education, specifically, continued use of Nymspace, a pseudonymous tool to support student dialogue in a text based environment. She serves as Vice President for the University of Technology Academic Staff Union (UTASU). She leads the professional development and visibility portfolio of the union, focusing on enhancing member engagement, scholarly dissemination, and public outreach. Among her community involvement is Chairman of the North Clarendon Heritage Foundation – a non-profit organization established to preserve the historical and cultural legacies of northern Clarendon. She holds the view that service beyond self should be one’s goal.
